The Grand Prize winner in this year’s contest will receive a ski & dinner package at Northstar-at-Tahoe and Baxter’s Bistro or a spa package at the Resort at Squaw Creek. Runners-up will receive a gift certificate good at a local shop, service or restaurant. All winning entries will be published in Tahoe Quarterly’s 2010 Best of Tahoe issue, out in August.

OFFICIAL RULES

RULES: An entrant must hold all rights to a photograph. For a photo in which a person is recognizable, you will be required to provide a signed model release from the subject or, in the case of a minor, the subject’s parent or guardian. Photos previously published or pending publication, or that violate or infringe upon another person’s copyright, are not eligible. All amateur photographers are eligible; Tahoe Quarterly will solely determine the winners. Photographs must have been shot by the entrant within the past three years. Finalists will be asked to submit a high-resolution digital file.

DIGITAL MANIPULATION: Our intent is to show images of Tahoe subjects, not fine art interpretations of subjects. Digital manipulations beyond traditional darkroom techniques to dodge, burn, sharpen, add contrast, or adjust color significantly beyond what was visible at the time the image was captured will be disqualified. The Art Director will have the final decision on whether an image has been overly manipulated. We do not have a digital illustration category. No special effects, artistic borders, blurred edges or artistic filters will be accepted. Converted black/white and sepia-type photos are OK.

Please do not contact us about the status of entries. The finalists, and only the finalists, will be notified of their status by July 2010. Winners grant Tahoe Quarterly rights of usage for the purpose of promotion of the magazine as well as promotional materials and the Tahoe Quarterly website.
